World, meet Igor

The last thing I said to my sister before my wife and I left for Europe back in March was "Whatever you do, do NOT have the baby while we're away"  She told me it shouldn't be a problem, he wasn't due for five more weeks, and the doctors didn't expect an early delivery.  Of course, 12 hours later, while I was sitting in an airport in Barcelona, my sister gave birth to her first child, Igor Raymond Barth.  He was very little, only 3 lbs 11 oz, but perfectly healthy.  Immediately after we got back from Europe, Meg and I drove to VA to meet my new nephew.  Unfortunately, he was still in the hospital, and we only had a day down there before we had to turn around and head back to NJ.  But, in early May, we got to go back down there for a few days to really get to know him.  He's up to an adorably chubby healthy weight, and is a super happy baby.  Of course, I shot photos.  And it was nice that our visit coincided with my parents visit down there as well. So, world, meet my new nephew, Igor.  Can't wait to go back down to VA to hang out with him again, and of course, take a ton more photos.

Naomi & Aseem, Parsippany Wedding Photography

Not long ago, I was talking to fellow wedding photographer, the extremely talented, Caroline Ghetes, and I found out she and her husband Alin were   traveling from North Carolina to Parsippany NJ to shoot an epic Indian wedding, and I was asked if I would like to 2nd shoot.  I jumped at the chance.  It's always fun to work with other photographers, and also, the traditions, culture, colors, and food of Indian weddings is well known.  Naomi and Aseem's wedding did not let down.  People came from all over the country, and all over the world to attend this wedding.  From the pre-wedding traditions to the insane reception, this wedding was a blast from start to finish.  Here are a few of my favorites from the day.  Enjoy. And make sure to check out Caroline's blog post about this wedding here.

This kid needs some further explanation.  There was a 3 piece string band playing during cocktail hour, he walks up and requests that they play "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson.  They happily obliged and he broke out with some of the best dance moves I have ever seen, regardless of age.  There was a huge crowd of everyone watching him, and he played up to the crowd.  I couldn't believe how well this kid danced, and he just oozed style.

At it again.

Thank you again to Carolin and Alin Ghetes for letting me come along and shoot, it was a blast.

A portrait of my wife

I was going through some personal photos last night, and this just jumped out at me.  Meg and I went to the NJ botanical Gardens in Ringwood, a place I have been a few times to shoot weddings, because she wanted to see the lilacs in bloom.  It was an absolutely gorgeous day, and the light was stunning.  I asked Meg to pose for a quick photo, which she hates doing, but still does for me from time to time.  After the actual posed photo (which did not turn out all that great), I said or did something that made her laugh, and I got this.  This is one of my favorite photos I have ever taken of her.  Something about it just perfetly captures her.  Enjoy
